A precious one from us has gone,
A voice we loved is stilled:
A place is vacant in our home,
Which can never be filled.

Alvin Eugene Holiday, affectionately known as "Al" to family and friends, was born on January 25, 1962, in Sarasota, Florida, to the loving union of the late JC Holiday and Betty Holiday. He departed his earthly life for eternal rest on the morning of Tuesday, August 8, 2023. He has been married to Roberta Ferrell Holiday for 22 years, and their family extended to six children.

Living in Virginia for most of his life, he attended the Williamsburg-James City County Public School System and graduated from Lafayette High School, Class of 1980. He continued his education at the Tidewater Technical College and worked for several years with Cox Cable Company. He was currently employed as Lead Banquet Server at the Williamsburg Inn, where he worked until his untimely passing.

His kind heart positioned him to always be available upon request for anyone who needed him. Al was an avid traveler and pickleball player. He was also a loyal and dedicated Dallas Cowboys fan who always stood by his team through their highs and lows. Al was a jovial and fun person with a big smile and an infectious laugh. He always spoke well of others, never an unkind word. His ability to easily connect with people made everyone around him feel like family, and he knew many. He showed up everywhere…you expected to see him everywhere…because there was only one Al Holiday. When Al walked into a room, his presence was noticed and the area brightened. A family-oriented man, he supported his children in everything they did and traveled with Berta to be wherever they had events. He was a proud father.  Al will truly be missed. May he rest in eternal peace with his father, whom he adored.

Precious memories will remain in the hearts of his loving mother, Betty Holiday; devoted wife, Roberta Holiday; children, Martika Cowles, Shaneka Ferrell, Krista Gregory (Liston), Lanika Cowles, Mariya Robinson, and Kenya Holiday; grandchildren, Jai’Ceon Armstrong and Elijah Armstrong; brothers, Charles Holiday (Cookie) and Andrew Holiday (Mable); brother-cousin, Kenneth White (Roberta); special friend-sister, Yvonne Ashby Coates; three aunts; six nephews; three nieces; and a host of loving relatives and friends.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at Noon Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at the Historic First Baptist Church.  Livestream will be available at the beginning of the service. Interment to follow in Ceder Grove Cemetery.  Mr. Holiday may be viewed on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of his service in the church.
